iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are official: Apple has announced them as the “grand finale” of its California Streaming event, which you can follow with our live Twitch and live blog . Tim Cook says that this year’s Pro range is the one that most differs from the standard version we have talked about very recently; starting from the materials, with edges in surgical stainless steel, all new cameras , a much larger battery and four colors – Graphite, Gold, Silver and the brand new Blue Sierra, made with a particularly sophisticated process. The back is in matte / frosted glass, while the cameras are protected by sapphire glass lenses. Aesthetically, the design has remained almost unchanged compared to the previous generation models.
Apple 14 Set
Pro models follow in the footsteps of iPhones 13 “regular” : the notch gets smaller, the SoC is the new A 15 Bionic, the internal design is more rational and therefore the battery is bigger. But there are several other details that are worth noting, first of all the arrival of ProMotion technology for the Super Retina XDR display (always protected by the Ceramic Shield coating). In very few words, it means: refresh rate at 95 Hz (variable, minimum 10 Hz) and higher brightness, up to 1. 000 peak nit. The screen diagonals remain the same as the previous year, which means 6.1 and 6.7 inches.
The three cameras are all new , Apple explains, and represent the most important advancement made by Apple so far. The layout is as follows:
- Main wide angle: 12 MP, f / 1.5 aperture, 1.9 micrometer pixel
- Telephoto: focal length 77 mm, 3X optical zoom
- Ultra Wide: f / 1.8 aperture, 6-element lens, macro mode for subjects with a minimum distance of 2cm, enhance up to 92% compared to the previous generation for low light situations
All three cameras support night mode, and next-generation Smart HDR technology now allows you to customize the effects with what Apple calls Photo Styles . On the video side, the “cinematic mode” arrives, with a change of the focus point after the shot thanks to machine learning technologies, and the camera app offers the ProRes 4K mode 30. As with the previous generation, the Sensor-Shift technology provides optical stabilization on the sensor, thus ensuring superior stability compared to traditional stabilization on the sensor.
Like on iPhone 13 And 13 Mini, autonomy should improve significantly considerable compared to the previous generation: we are talking about 1.5 hours more for iPhone 13 Pro vs iPhone 12 Pro, and of 2, 5 extra hours for iPhone 13 Pro Max vs iPhone 12 Pro Max. Thanks to Apple A SoC 15 Bionic, substantially improve res performance compared to the previous generation, especially in the AI / machine learning field. Naturally, the IP certification remains 68, wireless charging support and MagSafe accessory standard.
