The new model can already be ordered but will arrive in dealerships during the spring of 2022. Prices for the Italian market start from 124. 300 EUR but the figure can go up a lot by choosing the top-of-the-range versions and drawing from the rich catalog of accessories.

The new British SUV is available in SE, HSE and Autobiography models. A First Edition will be available throughout the first year of production, based on the Autobiography set-up and featuring unique specifications.

DESIGN AND INTERIORS

As mentioned at the beginning, the fifth generation of the Range Rover rests on a new modular platform that was designed by the Jaguar Land Rover Group to improve driveability, reduce weight and be able to use electrified powertrains of all the types. The English brand wanted to preserve the distinctive features of the Range Rover but at the same time worked for “clean up” the design and make it fresher.

The New Range Rover is a vehicle with unparalleled character, expressed by the impeccable sobriety of its exterior lines and the comfort of its interior. Born from a creative inspiration that combines ambition with excellence, it does not follow fashion or trends but, thanks to a modernist design philosophy and beyond 50 years of evolution, it is simply the most desirable Range Rover ever created.

The front is the one that shows the greatest link with the previous generation. The lines are decidedly softer and there is a careful work on the aerodynamics front. In fact, Land Rover declares a CX of 0, 20 . This is a truly remarkable achievement given that we are talking about a large SUV. The side has a very clean almost essential design, while at the rear we find a glossy black frame inside which there are the LED headlights that appear only when they turn on.

The trunk continues to have a double opening to make loading operations easier. The new Range Rover is also available in a long wheelbase version ( Long Wheelbase ). The “Standard” size 5, 05 m in length with a step of 3 m, while the Long Wheelbase 5, 25 m with a step of 3, 20 m. The long wheelbase version can be requested with 3 rows of seats to accommodate up to 7 passengers .

The interiors, as per tradition, are luxurious. However, the look has been made much simpler and more tidy. Customers have a wider choice of materials and finishes than the previous version, including innovative and more sustainable fabrics. Obviously there is a lot of technology. We find the digital instrumentation that can count on a display from 13, 1 inch. The infotainment, on the other hand, based on the latest version of the Pivi Pro system, can count on a 05, 7 inches.

Present the inevitable supports to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition there is also support for Alexa. There is also a WiFi hotspot to which you can connect up to 8 devices. The infotainment system supports the OTA updates which will allow you to receive news and improvements over time.

The new Range Rover is available with a new entertainment system for the second row of seats, with adjustable HD touchscreens from 11, 4 inches mounted on the back of the front backrests. Those who sit in the back can enjoy a movie or play other multimedia content. Land Rover has also thought about the well-being of the passengers. In fact, the Cabin Air Purification Pro system is available which thanks to its filtering system allows reduce the presence of CO2, PM 2.5 fine dust, bacteria and viruses.

And to make the passenger compartment even quieter , Land Rover, in addition to having used specific materials capable of transmitting little noise inside, has integrated into the new Range Rover a noise cancellation system integrated in the headrests that uses the audio system Meridian Signature from 1. 600 W .

ENGINES AND SAFETY

The fifth generation of the Land Rover relies heavily on electrification . We have, in fact, Mild Hybrid petrol and diesel units. Let’s talk about the P models 360 and P 400 Ingenium petrol and D 250, D 300 and350 diesel. Then there are the P’s 440 and and P 440 and adopting a powertrain Plug- in which Land Rover defines Extended Range. Finally, we have the model P 530 Twin Turbo V8 more efficient than 17% compared to the previous Range Rover V8. The scheme is as follows.

  • Range Rover P 360: 3.0 6 cylinder Mild Hybrid petrol – 360 CV (265 kW) and 500 Nm
  • Range Rover P 400: 3.0 6 cylinder Mild Hybrid petrol – 400 CV (294 kW) and 550 Nm
  • Range Rover D 250: 3.0 6 cylinder Mild Hybrid diesel – 249 CV (183 kW) and 600 Nm
  • Range Rover D 300: 3.0 6 cylinder Mild Hybrid diesel – 300 CV (221 kW) and 650 Nm
  • Range Rover D 350: 3.0 6 cylinder Mild Hybrid diesel – 350 CV (249 kW) and 700 Nm
  • Range Rover P 440 and: 4.4 V8 petrol – 530 CV (390 kW) and 750 Nm
  • Range Rover P 510 e: 3.0 6-cylinder petrol Plug-in – 440 CV (324 kW) and 620 Nm
  • Range Rover P 530: 3.0 6-cylinder petrol Plug-in – 510 CV (375 kW) and 700 Nm

Plug-in templates that will not be available at launch are very interesting. The electric motor is, in fact, powered by a battery from well 30, 2 kWh (31, 8 kWh usable) which allows a distance in electric only mode up to 100 km according to the WLTP cycle, “real” up to 80 km. The accumulator can be recharged in direct current up to a power of 50 kW to reduce energy supply times. In alternating current up to 7.2 kW. In electric only mode, the Range Rover Plug-in can reach a maximum speed of 140 km / h.

The new Range Rover is also the first Land Rover to feature Dynamic Response Pro , a faster and more efficient electronic roll control system than a hydraulic system. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD) is controlled by the Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) system ) of Land Rover, which monitors grip levels and driver inputs 100 times per second to predictively distribute the torque between the front and rear axles and on the rear axle, for optimal traction on and off-road. Range Rover also features an active locking rear differential and air suspension.

We also have the Terrain Response 2 system that chooses between six driving programs to be able to tackle any type of route without problems. The new model is also equipped with integral steering and 4-wheel steering. Obviously there is no lack of a rich set of ADAS systems to make driving safe.
