On Tuesday, Feb. 20, Oxford College’s Bread Club hosted their monthly DBS night which included free diner, music and stories by the Bread community.

Held in Rathskeller, the night began with a leading member of the club Robert Vore sharing an anecdote of a vacation to Spain, which proved to be very stressful but amusing.

He described his journey as eventful and arduous. He recounted the trip back to the hotel in the middle of the night, where he and his group finally arrived after walking along a highway, climbing through fences and carrying their luggages across large puddles. He related this story to a passage in the Bible that has supported him through many things and reminded him of the importance of friendship during tough times.

Following the story, Iman Ali and Cassie Eng performed beautiful renditions of popular songs including “Impossible” by Shontelle, “I’m Not the Only One” by Sam Smith, “Stay” by Rihanna and “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. Eng was on the keyboard, and Iman sang, adding her own musical style to the performance.

The Bread Club members were very welcoming and invited the Oxford community to join them at their coffee house located at 305 Emory St. for free drinks, cookies and games. They will also be providing free iced coffee on the quad most Tuesdays and another DBS night in March with free food and relaxing performances.
