Windows 11, Android apps for Dev channel Insiders arrive

The possibility of use Android apps on Windows 11 is one of the great innovations of the new operating system of the Redmond giant, but it has not yet been implemented. At the end of October, something has moved on the Beta channel, and now (temporarily only in the USA) also Windows Insider users of the Dev channel will be able to preview this new and awaited feature (if you are curious to try it, there is a way – although you need to be a bit savvy – and we have shown it to you). )

The first step is to download the Windows Subsystem for Android from the Microsoft Store. In this test phase the officially available apps, whose installation is possible through the Amazon Appstore, are only 50. As stated by Microsoft, behind this novelty there is a close collaboration with Amazon and then with Intel, responsible for the Bridge technology that allows apps written for ARM processor to run on x processors 86 as its own and those of AMD.

The subsystem, executed in a Hyper-V virtual machine, it is based on Android 11: but Microsoft has already specified that over time it will update it, and therefore sooner or later it will be the turn of Android 12, and so on. In the meantime, however, the path of functionality continues towards the release for the stable version, which we do not know at the moment how far it is.
