Xpeng officially launched in China its new P5 electric sedan, an interesting model because it features many advanced technological solutions, especially in terms of assisted driving. A car to look at carefully because will also arrive in Europe . The Chinese manufacturer, in fact, has an ambitious expansion plan in the Old Continent. In 2020 he has already landed in Norway with his G3 model and recently, again in this country, he opened orders for the ‘flagship battery operated P7.
Obviously, the goal is to enter other European markets, also expanding its offer which will also include, as mentioned before, the new P5 model.
SO MUCH TECHNOLOGY
Xpeng P5 measurement 4. 808 mm length x 1. 840 mm width x 1. 520 mm height, with a step of 2. 768 mm. The trunk can count on a capacity of 450 liters. The Chinese manufacturer has carefully developed aerodynamics to improve the efficiency of the car, while maintaining a “traditional” design. The result of this work is a CX of 0, 155 . The interiors are minimal but well-finished and it is possible to have a lot of technology.
The instrumentation is digital and is characterized by a display from 12, 3 inches. The connected infotainment, on the other hand, can count on a vertical touch screen from 15, 6 inches. The platform is the new Xmart OS 3.0 that Xpeng developed directly. As in all Chinese brand vehicles, the P5 also supports the OTA updates and has a voice assistant who can interact with the driver and can respond to various commands such as managing the climate control and opening / closing the windows.
The interiors are also reconfigurable and can be transformed, for example, into a “small” cinema hall “in which to see a film that will be projected on a roll-up screen. And for the sound, the car can count on the XPeng Advanced Surround Sound System 8-speaker system.
One of the aspects more interesting than the P5 is its advanced assisted driving system XPILOT 3.5 available on the top versions of range. Uses well 32 sensors including two LiDARs . The electric motor delivers 155 kW with 310 Nm of torque and allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds. Three battery packs offered: 55, 9 kWh, 66 , 2 kWh and 71, 4 kWh . The autonomy varies from 460 to 600 km according to the not very precise NEDC cycle . Overall, the P5 will be offered in China in 6 variants.
Starting prices vary from 157. 900 RMB a 223. 900 RMB, i.e. from about 20. 800 euro a 29. 500 EUR. It will be interesting to find out the specifics of the European model. Surely Xpeng will have to change a little bit to adapt its car to the needs of European customers and the laws of approval of the Old Continent.
